What to Expect at Your Specialist Appointment

Doctor and Patient consultation

We aim to make your first visit seamless, informative, and reassuring. Our team is committed to providing a supportive and efficient experience, ensuring you feel well prepared and confident from the moment you arrive.

What Should I Bring to My Appointment?

  • Your referral letter from your GP or referring doctor
  • Medicare card and any concession cards (DVA, Pension, Healthcare card if applicable)
  • Private health insurance details (if relevant)
  • Copies of recent imaging or pathology results (within the last 6 months where possible)
  • A list of your current medications and dosages
  • Details of any known drug allergies or adverse reactions

What Should I Expect During My First Consultation?

Your initial appointment is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of your symptoms, concerns, and health goals. During your consultation, your specialist may:

  • Discuss your symptoms, medical history, and current health concerns
  • Review previous investigations, imaging, or specialist reports
  • Perform a focused physical examination where appropriate
  • Explain possible diagnoses and treatment options
  • Develop an individualised management or treatment plan tailored to your needs

If required, further tests or procedures may be recommended to assist with diagnosis or treatment. Follow-up appointments may also be arranged to review results and monitor progress.

We prioritise clear communication, thorough assessment, and collaborative care. Patients are encouraged to ask questions and take an active role in their healthcare decisions.
