Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

Advanced EUS for precise diagnosis, staging, and minimally invasive treatment of complex gastrointestinal and pancreatic conditions.

Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) is a specialised minimally invasive procedure that combines endoscopy with high-frequency ultrasound imaging to produce detailed views of the digestive tract and surrounding organs. Using a specialised ultrasound endoscope, your gastroenterologist can examine the walls of the oesophagus, stomach and bowel, as well as nearby structures including the pancreas, bile ducts, liver and lymph nodes.

Preparation, Procedure & Recovery

Patients will need to fast for several hours and adjust certain medications if advised. EUS is performed under sedation. A specialised endoscope with ultrasound capability is gently guided through the mouth or rectum. Most patients resume normal activities shortly after.

Possible Risks

Rare risks may include bleeding, infection, pancreatitis (in certain procedures), perforation, and reaction to sedation.
